The IMACE Welcomes Being Added as “Authorised Organisation” Under HKSAR Government’s “Immigration Facilitation Scheme for Visitors Participating in Short-term Activities in Designated Sectors”

The Institute for Medical Advancement and Clinical Excellence (IMACE) today (31 October) welcomed the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government’s inclusion of the Institute in the expanded “Immigration Facilitation Scheme for Visitors Participating in Short-term Activities in Designated Sectors” (STV Scheme) with effect from 1 November, 2025.

Professor Gilberto Ka-kit Leung, Convenor of the IMACE, said, “We are glad and honoured that the IMACE is newly added as one of the authorised organisations in the medical and healthcare sector under the expanded ‘STV Scheme’. The IMACE can, in turn, strengthen its capacity to engage in professional exchanges and collaboration with medical and healthcare professionals worldwide, who could enjoy immigration facilitation for undertaking short-term activities under the ‘STV Scheme’, in the course of developing evidence-based clinical guidelines and exploring the feasibility of devising service quality and efficiency standards for public and private healthcare services.

Professor Leung added, “We believe that the expanded ‘STV Scheme’ will further facilitate bringing together medical and healthcare talent, coupled with their rich expertise and experience, from around the world to foster Hong Kong’s development into an international health and medical innovation hub. The IMACE will continue to join hands with the HKSAR Government and various stakeholders in driving clinical excellence and improving practice quality through evidence-based and professional-led deliberations.”

The IMACE was formally established in May 2025 as an independent, professional-led platform initiated by the HKSAR Government to provide guidance on clinical practice as well as on health policy.  It comprises members spanning both the public and private healthcare sectors in Hong Kong.
